PestEx is the UK’s largest pest control trade exhibition, hosted by the BPCA, attended by over 2000 professionals and 100+ exhibitors. The project involved designing all exhibition graphics across the venue, from feature walls and theatre backdrops to signage and bespoke stand graphics. Each piece reinforced the event theme, supported navigation and helped create a cohesive visual identity across the show floor.
The entrance area was designed to make a bold first impression, clearly introducing the event theme. As the primary entry point for the show, the designs needed to be instantly recognisable as PestEx while guiding attendees through two distinct entrances. This was the largest and most complex area of the exhibition to design, involving multiple panels of varying sizes, each requiring carefully considered layouts to ensure clarity, consistency and visual impact.
The hall graphics covered a wide range of functional and visual elements across the exhibition floor. This included stand banners, graphics for the sponsored coffee area, and large‑scale exhibition maps and seminar schedules positioned throughout the hall and within each theatre, ensuring clear navigation and accessibility across a busy exhibition space.
For the BPCA stand, I designed a series of totems, with each face featuring a simple, bold graphic that related back to BPCA and its role within the industry. Creating the backdrop artwork for Resistance Wars , a custom video game featured on the stand, was a lot of fun that allowed for a distinctly different visual style outside of established brand constraints. Wrap‑around graphics for the badge scanners and digital displays ensured all elements of the stand added personality to the space.
A series of email campaigns introduced the PestEx branding ahead of the event and were the first place the visual identity was seen. I designed a series of nine event emails with calls to action, covering key milestones such as registration opening, the release of the showguide and post‑event follow‑ups. Three of my favourite examples are shown to highlight the range and visual consistency of the campaign.
I designed a range of print materials to support PestEx across multiple channels, including flyers distributed at BPCA events, advertisements placed in external trade magazines, and the printed showguide itself. Each piece needed to communicate essential event information at a glance while clearly expressing the theme and purpose of the show.
ID badges were worn by all attendees throughout the show, ensuring key information was clear and instantly legible. Each badge type was colour‑coded with a custom palette to allow for quick visual identification during the show.
